LES & WGMS Lockdown ENDED.

Final Update:

Thank you for your continued patience as we follow the Olde Greenwich Circle emergency situation.

Again, everyone is safe.

We have been advised by both Fredericksburg Police and Spotsylvania Sheriff’s departments that it is safe to leave the building.

We are lifting indoor instruction, which means people can leave the building at this time. Fredericksburg police are present at both schools to assist the immediate departure. Please leave the building in a timely manner. No one should remain in either school at this time.

Police and Sheriff’s offices are confident that we are safe to leave the buildings.

7:22 PM Update:

This is an update to the incident reported at Olde Greenwich Circle area.

Fredericksburg City Police are inside both Lafayette and Walker-Grant schools to ensure the security and protection of our FCPS family. Lafayette and Walker-Grant school are moving to indoor instruction, which means people can move about the building but not leave the building.

We ask that everyone remain inside the buildings and/or avoid the area.

Outside activities are canceled. All exterior doors are secured while staff and students are free to move about inside their building.

Again, everyone in the schools is safe.

7:05 PM Update:

This is an update regarding the situation near Learning Lane, on Lafayette Boulevard, which is impacting the Lafayette and Walker-Grant schools. Both schools remain on lockdown due to an abundance of caution. Spotsylvania Sheriff’s department is working the situation, and again, there is a heavy Fredericksburg City Police department presence in the area.

Again, everyone in the schools is safe. Please avoid the area.

6:35 PM Update:

Lafayette Elementary and Walker-Grant Middle and remain on lockdown. We continue to be safe.

There is a heavy police presence in the Olde Greenwich Circle area. We need to remind everyone to please stay away from Learning Lane. No one should be approaching either school on Learning Lane at this time.

6:25 PM Alert:

Lafayette Elementary School and Walker-Grant Middle School are on lockdown due to an active incident in the area.

Everyone is safe. Parent/Teacher Conferences are cancelled. Please avoid the area.
