Good evening, Hugh Mercer students & families,
This is your principal, Mr. Snyder, with your weekly update for the upcoming week.
This week at Hugh Mercer, Wednesday, December 6, will be an early dismissal day with school ending at 12:45pm and Thursday, December 7, school will be closed. We will resume our normal learning day on Friday, December 7. Please remember to make any changes to your child’s transportation if needed for Wednesday’s early dismissal. This also means that after-school clubs will not meet on Wednesday this week.
Please watch the video below with your child as we continue to focus on and emphasize the importance of regular school attendance because of its relationship to successful learning and opportunities for a child. Attendance matters because your child matters to us.
Relating to attendance, parents, we have been monitoring an increase in students being picked up early from school, up to two hours before dismissal. Please know that regular school attendance is not just getting to school each day on time, but also remaining in school for the whole instructional day. While sometimes appointments and other obligations do require an early pick-up, early pick-ups to avoid the car rider line or to not have to wait at the bus stop are not permitted as they can begin to negatively impact your child’s learning due to the interruption to their school day.
As always, we are looking forward to another productive and positive week ahead. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Your partnership is essential, and working together ensures the success of every Hugh Mercer student.
I hope you enjoy your evening and look forward to a wonderful week ahead.
Goodnight,
Mr. Snyder
