Good evening, Hugh Mercer Students and Families,
This is your principal, Mr. Snyder, with your weekly update for the upcoming week.
This week we will be in session from Monday, 12/18 to Wednesday, 12/20. December 20th will be an early dismissal day and the start of our Winter break. On Wednesday, students will dismiss at 12:45pm, please make sure to submit any transportations changes prior to dismissal on Wednesday.
Our after-school academic support programs and after-school clubs have finished for 2023 and will not be meeting this Tuesday or Wednesday. Both will resume in 2024 in late January and early February.
Parents and Guardians, please help FCPS apply for additional funds for federal connected students by completing an Impact Aid survey that will soon be sent home with your student. The surveys are due by January 15th. We greatly appreciate your help in securing these additional funds for our students. Please reach out to the Finance Department at (540) 372-1130 with any questions.
Parents, as we have been reviewing our academic progress up to this point in the school year and looking at ways to get the most out of our instructional time; we noticed that our morning schedule has been making it difficult for teachers and students to start at 8:30am. When we return in the new year on January 4th, our car rider line will no longer remain open till 8:30am, instead we will close the line at 8:25am. Instruction starts at 8:30am, students arriving at or just after 8:30am are missing out on a smooth start to the school day.
This will be the final Principal’s message for 2023. All of us here at Hugh Mercer hope that you have a restful, peaceful, and wonderful winter break with your family, friends, and those that you care most about. Thank you for helping make the first half of the school year a successful and productive one for all our students. We wish you a joyous holiday season and happy new year.
As always, we are looking forward to another productive and positive week ahead. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Your partnership is essential, and working together ensures the success of every Hugh Mercer student.
I hope you enjoy your evening and look forward to a wonderful week ahead.
Goodnight,
Mr. Snyder
