Principal Snyder's Weekly Update

Good Evening, Hugh Mercer Students and Families,

This is your principal, Mr. Snyder, with your weekly update for the upcoming week.

Last week, we enjoyed seeing so many of the FCPS community at the FCPS Family Night event hosted at Hugh Mercer on Thursday evening. It was a nice night of fun and movement as we continue to build a strong sense of community and unity within Fredericksburg and our school communities.

This week we will have an early dismissal on Wednesday, February 7th at 12:45 pm. To ensure a smooth transition, please make any necessary half-day transportation changes before Wednesday.

Tuesday will be our Spring Picture Day. Information and order forms were sent home last week but are still available in our main office.

This week also marks the half-way point of the 3rd quarter of learning; therefore, interims will be sent home Thursday and Friday of this week.

I would also like to congratulate our families and students that have maintained strong attendance from the start of school to now as well as the families and students that have made great improvement to regularly attending school with little interruptions. I also would like to congratulate the entire 4th grade student body for winning both the quarter 1 and quarter 2 attendance challenges by having the highest daily attendance rate out of our six grade levels. They got to enjoy some treats to celebrate their success. But it has always been a close competition with most grade levels being close behind on 4th grade's heels. For the 3rd quarter, let’s see if another grade level can pass 4th grade with a higher regular attendance rate. Regular school attendance is a key ingredient for educational success and growth.

As always, we are looking forward to another productive and positive week ahead. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Your partnership is essential, and working together ensures the success of every Hugh Mercer student.

I hope you enjoy your evening and look forward to a wonderful week ahead.

Goodnight,

Mr. Snyder
