Good evening, Hugh Mercer Students and Families,
This is your principal, Mr. Snyder, with your weekly update for the upcoming week.
February 28 will be an early dismissal day. On Wednesday, students will dismiss at 12:45pm—please make sure to submit any transportations changes prior to dismissal on Wednesday. Because of the early dismissal, after-school clubs will not be held on Wednesday, February 28.
Thank you to all our families for prioritizing attendance and ensuring that your student is present and punctual each day. Your commitment to communication when absences occur is truly commendable and plays a crucial role in your student's success. Teaching your child the importance of regular school attendance, even when hurdles arise, is such a valuable lesson from a parent.
It is getting closer to the start of our FCPS Family/Faculty March Madness Basketball Tournament. The first game will be March 7, and Hugh Mercer was selected to play Walker-Grant Middle School that evening. Come out to JMHS to support us. Doors open at 5:30pm. The game starts at 6pm.
Starting next week and with the start of March, Hugh Mercer will be celebrating the importance of reading through numerous activities during March and April. We begin the week of March 4 with Read Across America. Details and information will be sent home as we plan each event. Be on the lookout for information in my weekly messages, school website, and our social media posts. Helping a child find joy in reading is an excellent way for one generation to pass along to the next generation a gift that ultimately benefits us all.
As always, we are looking forward to another productive and positive week ahead. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Your partnership is essential, and working together ensures the success of every Hugh Mercer student.
I hope you enjoy your evening and look forward to a wonderful week ahead.
Goodnight,
Mr. Snyder
