Good evening, Hugh Mercer Students and Families,
This is your principal, Mr. Snyder, and here we are with just a few days of school remaining before the start of our summer break. It has been a year of growth at Hugh Mercer as we learned so much and worked to become better versions of ourselves from who we were when we started the school year. While we are sad to see it come to an end, we know that you have worked hard and can now enjoy your break.
This will be the final Sunday message and update email for the 2023-2024 school year. Make sure to look at the email as lots of information will be in it about closing out the school year and with events happening this week and over the summer.
Monday is our Field Day. It is going to be lots of fun, and we are spending the whole day together enjoying our last full day of school. Parents, please review the information below about changes to the car rider lines for Monday only due to our preparations for Field Day. Also, it will be warm and sunny, so please apply sunscreen before arriving at school and send your child with bottled water.
Car riders will enter the drop-off area from the first left turn on Monday. The back gate and blacktop area will be closed off for Field Day. The same route will be used for dismissal on Monday. The first left turn is at the back of the Faculty Parking Lot. How you enter our school grounds and proceed to the car rider area has not changed, just the entrance to the drop-off/pick-up zone.
Monday is the last full day of school. The remainder of the week will be early dismissal days from Tuesday through Friday. Hugh Mercer dismisses at 12:45pm on early dismissal days. The last day of school will be Friday, May 24.
Information on our summer programs can be found here.
Student Medications: A reminder to parents to pick up any unused medications from the school nurse by the last day of school. Medications that are not picked up must be destroyed per school policy. If your child is staying for summer school, please let the school nurse know so that the medication is kept for the summer sessions.
To our amazing 5th graders, good luck next year at Walker-Grant. We will miss you, but we know that you leave us for bigger and more exciting adventures ahead.
To our students returning next year, enjoy your summer and relax some. We will be working hard over the summer to make sure that Hugh Mercer is ready for you and even better than it was this year.
To our amazing staff and teachers, thank you for helping create a wonderful year of growth and learning for our students. You are succeeding each day in your efforts to build a community of learning and excellence at Hugh Mercer.
I hope you enjoy your evening and look forward to a wonderful week ahead and a fun-filled summer.
Goodnight,
Mr. Snyder
