Weekly Principal Message - 28 Sept 2025

Dear Patriots,

We had great week last week! The Sunshine Ballpark Field Day was a great success! I was so glad the weather held out.

Here are the updates for the week:

  • 📅 There will be no school on Thursday, October 2, in observance of Yom Kippur.

  • 📄 Our Kindergarten students will continue to participate in the VKRP (state-wide math assessment) to determine their performance and overall needs.

  • 🗓️ October's PTA meeting will be on Wednesday, October 1, at 6:00 PM in the library. If you have not joined our PTA, please consider doing so. Our PTA is very active and supportive of students and teachers.

  • 🎂 Our PTA Fundraiser from Nothing Budnt Cake continues this week through Friday, October 3. If you need a flyer or additional information, please contact our school.

  • 🦺 Bus Expectations for Behavior & Consequences: As you may have seen in the district's post, we expect all of our students to engage in safe behavior. We have seen an uptick in unsafe behaviors — yelling, walking in the aisle, use of profanity, refusing to comply with directions, among other unsafe behaviors. Please note that these behaviors pose a safety concern to everyone. Students not adhering to the safety protocols and behavior expectations will be removed from riding the bus as needed. In order to alleviate some of these unsafe behaviors, students on buses D (door), W (watch), EV64, and L (ladder) will have assigned seats effective tomorrow, Monday, September 29. A separate email/post will go out to those impacted by this change.

Looking Ahead:

  • 🍽️ Beginning Monday, October 6, we will allow parents to eat lunch with their child(ren). We will allow 8 parents per lunch wave. Please contact our front office to coordinate and secure your spot!

  • 🗓️ October 13 is a Teacher In-service workday. There will be no school for students.

  • 🎃 FCPS Elementary Schools Trunk or Treat Festivities on October 24, from 5:30-7:30 PM at James Monroe High School. There will be a separate email/post with sign-up and requests for candy donations.

As always, we appreciate your continued support. Do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Today and always, Go Patriots! 💚💛
