Dear Patriots,
This is an important message from Dr. Brenda Russ, Principal of Hugh Mercer Elementary School. We had a great week last week honoring our Veteran's and their families.
We also had a great week instructionally. Our first-grade students learned about Jamestown settlement and make comparisons to life then and now. Our third graders incorporated the Habits of Mind framework in their math class by reviewing different methods to multiply and divide, relevant vocabulary, and showing their work using a number line. Our fourth-grade students discussed goods and services, immigration, agriculture, and transportation within the Jamestown settlement. We anticipate another great week this week!
Here are the reminders and updates through November 30:
Q2 Interim Report Distribution will be on Tuesday, November 18. Be sure to review your child's grade and reach out to their homeroom teacher if you have any questions or concerns.
Students will have 2-hour early dismissal on Tuesday, November 25. We will dismiss at 12:45 PM. Be sure to plan accordingly.
FCPS Schools and Offices will be closed on Wednesday, November 25, through Friday, November 27, for Fall Break. We will resume on Monday, December 1.
A special THANK YOU to everyone who donated snacks for our students. Your kindness and generosity are greatly appreciated!
P.S. — I will not be sending a Sunday Memo next weekend. This message includes all updates through the end of November.
As always, do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Today and always, Go Patriots 💚💛
Dr. Russ
