On December 7, there will be an informational session held to gather interest and answer questions about the potential for expanding the advanced coursework offerings at JMHS. We invite current 10th-grade JMHS students and their families to join us at the Walker-Grant Center Board Room (210 Ferdinand Street), from 6pm to 7pm, to explore and discuss a partnership with Virginia's first virtual governor's school.
We are excited to welcome Dr. Michael Robinson as our guest speaker for the event. Dr. Robinson has served as Director of A. Linwood Holton Governor's School since 2016. Previously, he has served as teacher, principal, and superintendent in both rural and urban divisions. During his time as director, the program has increased course offerings significantly and doubled in size. Dr. Robinson is considered an expert in advanced and gifted programming.
A Microsoft Teams link is available upon request. For more information, please contact Matt Terry, Director of Student Programs, at (540) 372-1130 or send an email to mterry@cityschools.com.
A survey will be conducted following the event to gain insight into student interest as we further explore this opportunity.
