Principal Petty's Weekly Update

Good evening,

This is Marcus Petty Principal of James Monroe High School with important announcements and reminders:

  • Parents, it is imperative you partner with us to ensure your child attends school every day and arrives on time to school and all classes. Regular attendance and on-time arrival can positively impact academic performance.  If your child has an appointment and can’t attend for the whole day, please know attending school for a half day still counts in a positive way.  In the event your child needs to miss school, please send a note so we can excuse the absence. Your child can give the note to Mrs. Parker in the attendance office, or you can submit the note by going to JM’s website.
  • FCPS is applying for an Impact Aid grant from the Federal Department of Education. We need your assistance by completing and returning the survey to the main office as soon as possible.
  • To review JM’s sports schedules please click on the link in the email portion of this alert.  Thank you for supporting student sports and activities.    www.battlefielddistrictva.org/public/genie/354/school/6/
  • The process of course requests for the 2024-2025 school year will open this week. The course catalog will be shared electronically with students.  If you have any questions or concerns about course offerings, please contact your child’s school counselor.
  • Lastly, please save the date.  On March 19th, the health department will be visiting JM to offer vaccines.  The vaccines are for the mandated vaccines needed for entry to 12th grade, so for our current 11th graders.  If you have additional questions, please contact the school nurse here at JM.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us here at the school.

One Community/One JM!

Have a great evening!
