Principal Petty's Weekly Update

Good evening,        

This is Marcus Petty Principal of James Monroe High School with exciting updates:

  • JV Girls Basketball won the Battlefield District Championship and finished with an 11-5 record. 
  • Varsity Girls Basketball finished 2nd in the Battlefield District and 3rd in region 3B with a quarterfinal appearance.  They finished the season with a 15-10 record. 
  • Harmony Jones, Logan Conner, Melanie Johnson, and Laila Taylor were selected as all district players with Tameka Christopher winning coach of the year honors. 
  • Varsity Boys Basketball won the battlefield district tournament and won their first-round regional game against Thomas Jefferson.  The boys are 20-5 and will host Skyline on Tuesday night at 6pm in the regional semifinal. 
  • Dezaun Robinson, Michael Edwards and Makel Minor were selected as first team all-district players and Makel Minor was voted as player of the year. 
  • Sami Sowers led a group of JM swimmers at the state meet this weekend in Richmond.  Sami placed 2nd in the 200-yard freestyle run and later she won the state championship in the 100-yard freestyle.
