Principal Petty's Weekly Update

Good evening,

This is Marcus Petty, Principal of James Monroe High School, with reminders and exciting updates:

  • Parents, it is imperative you partner with us to ensure your child attends school every day and arrives on time to school and all classes. Regular attendance and on-time arrival can positively impact academic performance.  If your child has an appointment and can’t attend for the whole day, please know attending school for a half day still counts in a positive way.  In the event your child needs to miss school, please send a note so we can excuse the absence. Your child can give the note to Mrs. Parker in the attendance office, or you can submit the note by going to JM’s website.
  • Save the date! Parent-teacher conferences will be held on March 28, from 4pm-6pm.  You can make an appointment starting February 28 by contacting the main office.
  • Parents, letters will be coming home Tuesday for SOL remediation.  Please complete the information and return the form to the main office by March 4.
  • The last day of the 3rd  nine weeks is March 7.  Please take this time to review grades and address any concerns with the appropriate teacher.
  • Boys Basketball defeated Meridian high school on Friday to win the region 3B championship.  It is their first regional title since 1986. The boys will host Booker T Washington on Tuesday Feb 27, at 7pm at JMHS for a spot in the state semifinals.  Congrats to Coach Ellis, his staff, and players on this historic moment.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us here at the school.

One Community/One JM!

Have a great evening!
