Principal Petty's Weekly Update

Good evening,

This is Marcus Petty Principal of James Monroe High School with reminders and exciting updates:

  • Save the date! Parent teacher conferences will be held on March 28, from 4-6pm. You can make an appointment by contacting the main office.
  • Parents, letters will be coming home regarding SOL remediation. Please complete the information and return the form to the main office by Monday, March 4.
  • The last day of the 3rd nine weeks is March 7. Please take this time to review grades and address any concerns with the appropriate teacher.
  • This year, we are working to teach students about mental health and how to seek help if they are worried about themselves or a friend. We are using a program called SOS Signs of Suicide. The program teaches students about this difficult topic and encourages them to seek help.  Please review the letter attached to the email portion of this alert for more details.  If you have additional questions, please contact the counseling office. • A big congratulations to the boy’s basketball team for an outstanding season and to the students participating in the DECA competition for their achievements.
  • Lastly, a special thanks to all our students, community partners, and staff for their efforts in making the Black History Read-In Chain a success.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us here at the school.

One Community/One JM!

Have a great evening!
