Good evening,
This is Marcus Petty, Principal of James Monroe High School, with important announcements and reminders:
September is Attendance Awareness Month, and we want to highlight the importance of regular attendance. Regular attendance and on-time arrival can positively impact academic performance.
On Monday, September 9, students will receive their interim report cards. Please take a moment to review them with your child. If you have any questions, please contact the appropriate teacher.
September is also Suicide Prevention Month and September 10 marks World Prevention Day. Students, please join us by wearing purple or teal on Tuesday, September 10!
Save the date — please join us Tuesday, September 17, at 5:30pm for a special viewing of What I Wish My Parents Knew! What I Wish My Parents Knew is the first film by Tell My Story, designed as a mental wellness program, to help parents better understand how to support the mental health of their children. This is an adult-only viewing and there will be no children admitted to the film. Childcare is not available for this event and refreshments will be provided. The registration link is located in the attached newsletter in the email portion of this alert.
Lastly, please partner with us and remind your child to be on time to school and each class. Students who have excessive tardies may not be allowed to attend school spirit activities, social, or athletic activities.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us here at the school.
One Community/One JM!
Have a great evening!
