Student Voice for Future CTE Direction

On September 11, 2024, 15 JM students and 12 WGMS students provided insight and guidance for the direction of Fredericksburg City Public Schools's new CTE emphasis.

Each student focus group session was led by CTE consultants Dr. Scott Baker and Dr. Rob Benson.

New CTE Coordinator Delia Clayton-Fulcher attended with Superintendent Marci Catlett and Deputy Superintendent Matt Eberhardt.

"Student voice is critical as we move forward with our emphasis on CTE, and we will rely on their guidance and passion for future thinking," said Catlett.

The sessions were organized and supported by WGMS Assistant Principal Dr. Kisha Frye and JM Assistant Principal Nick Brousse.

"Everything was amazing, and the students were awesome in their interactions," said Frye. "Students had a chance to really reflect and voice their interest."

Moving forward, the decision was made that these participants will become the FCPS Student CTE Advisory Committee in order to plan forward CTE success.

"The entire experience beginning to end was an exceptional opportunity for our students. They loved being there and knew their opinions were important," said Brousse.
