Principal Petty's Weekly Update

Good evening,

This is Marcus Petty, Principal of James Monroe High School, with important announcements and reminders:

  • September is Attendance Awareness Month, and we want to highlight the importance of regular attendance. Regular attendance and on-time arrival can positively impact academic performance.

  • All twelfth-grade students are mandated by the state to have received the Meningococcal vaccine to attend school for the current school year. Students who have not shown proof of vaccination or who have not submitted written verification of an upcoming doctor's appointment to the school nurse to receive the vaccine will be sent home on September 30, 2024, until such verification is provided. If you have questions, please contact the school nurse.

  • Congrats to Senior Volleyball Captain Jordan Carter for her 650th career kill in Tuesday night's 3-0 win over Culpeper. Jordan has secured her place in JM history as the sport's most decorated student athlete. She was 1st team All-District and 1st team All-Region in 2023 and should have those same honors in 2024.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us here at the school.

One Community/One JM!

Have a great evening!
