Principal Petty's Weekly Update

Good evening,

This is Marcus Petty, Principal of James Monroe High School, with important announcements and reminders:

September is Attendance Awareness Month, and we want to highlight the importance of regular attendance. Regular attendance and on-time arrival can positively impact academic performance.

All 12th Grade students are mandated by the state to have received the Meningococcal vaccine to attend school for the current school year. Students who have not shown proof of vaccination or who have not submitted written verification of an upcoming doctor's appointment to the school nurse to receive the vaccine will be sent home on September 30, 2024, until such verification is provided. If you have questions, please contact the school nurse.

This week, students will celebrate homecoming with the first spirit week of the school year. The days include Rhyme without Reason on Monday, Babies vs Senior Citizens on Tuesday, on Wednesdays We Wear Pink, and JM Class Color Wars on Friday. All students are encouraged to participate. The carnival, parade, and pep rally will take place Friday, October 4. Tickets for the dance are on sale through GoFan for $30. The access code is the student's ID number. More information can be found on the JM SCA Instagram account.

There will be a meeting on Wednesday, October 9, in the Auditorium at 6pm for all students interested in attending the Spring Break 2026 trip to Scotland. Hear all about the details and pricing from Ms. Hard and Mr. Wright.

SAVE THE DATE: Picture Day will be October 11, here at JM.

Lastly, please take a moment to review the upcoming sports schedule for this week. 2024 JMHS Weekly Athletic Calendar- Sept 30-Oct 4.docx

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us here at the school.

One Community/One JM!

Have a great evening!

Mr. Petty
