Good evening,
This is Marcus Petty, Principal of James Monroe High School, with important announcements:
JM UNICEF is helping Hugh Mercer by raising candy for their Trunk or Treat event on October 23. We appreciate all donations of bagged candy. These candy bags can be dropped off in the main office and students will receive one volunteer hour for donating. The last day to drop off candy is October 22.
We are excited to announce Digital Citizenship Week, taking place from October 14 to 18. This year, our focus will be on News and Media Literacy. In today's digital age, it's more important than ever for our students to develop critical thinking skills to navigate the vast amount of information available online. During the month of October, students will learn how to identify reliable sources, evaluate information, and detect fake news.
We continue celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month in our schools. We want to recognize and honor the rich contributions of Hispanic individuals to society, history, and the arts.
Lastly, October is dedicated to Bullying Prevention Month, and our school counselors and teachers have planned a variety of activities throughout the month to engage students in meaningful discussions and actions against bullying. We encourage you to have ongoing conversations with your child about being part of a bully-free school. Your involvement is essential to our efforts in achieving this goal.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us here at the school.
One Community/One JM!
Have a great evening!
