Good evening,
This is Marcus Petty, Principal of James Monroe High School, with some important updates.
Monday, March 10, marks the start of Quarter 4—the final stretch of the school year! Let's finish strong! Attached to this message is the March newsletter, which was also sent in last week’s alert. I’m reattaching it for your convenience, as it contains important dates, events, and testing information.

We are now in the second week of JM’s 3rd Annual Attendance March Madness Competition! Seniors are currently in the lead for the ice cream party, but there are still three weeks left for another grade level to take the top spot. Remember, attendance matters because YOU matter!
🎉 Celebrating Our Athletes!
🏀 Congratulations to our Girls' Basketball Team, who are now 25-0! They are heading to the State Championship on Saturday, March 15th, at 11 AM at VCU’s Siegel Center in Richmond. Let’s show our support and cheer them on as they go for the title!
🏊♂️ Congratulations to the Swim Team for advancing to the Class 3 State Meet! We are proud of their hard work and dedication!
📢 Upcoming Events:
"What It Takes to Graduate" Presentation: March 11 at 4:00 PM in the JM Lecture Hall — All students and parents are encouraged to attend!
Yondr Bag Check: Tuesday, March 12 — This is to ensure students are keeping track of their pouches and to address any lost or damaged ones before the end of the school year. Checking pouches now will give students time to locate any lost pouches before they must be turned in at the end of the school year.
Let’s make this final quarter our best one yet! Stay focused, stay engaged, and let’s finish strong!
One Community, One JM!
Go Jackets!
