Good evening,
This is Marcus Petty, Principal of James Monroe High School, with some important updates.
Spring SOL testing will continue this week, and there will be changes to the bell schedule. This schedule was shared with students and teachers last week. Please refer to the bell schedule linked in the email to remind your child of the adjustments.

Here are some helpful tips to support your child’s success during testing:
Ensure they get a good night’s sleep before test days.
Encourage them to eat a healthy breakfast.
Remind them to stay calm and take their time reading each question carefully.
Encourage regular review of class materials and practice tests.
Make sure they bring a fully charged laptop to school.
Seniors will be taking the Workplace Readiness exam on April 30, starting at 8:30 AM. Whether your child is heading to college, trade school, the military, or the workforce, this is a great opportunity for students to earn one final certification before they graduate. This certification will give seniors a competitive edge in their future careers.
We will begin collecting seniors' laptops in the Commons May 8-9 during lunch and May 13 & 16 during the Senior Honors Assembly and lunch. Please ensure that students bring their school-issued laptops and chargers on one of these dates. Laptops should only be returned after all testing has been completed.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us here at the school.
Have a great evening!
Go Jackets!
