weekly principal message - 28 sept 2025

Good evening,

This is Marcus Petty, Principal of James Monroe High School, with a few important announcements:

Parents, please partner with us to ensure that students who drive or are dropped off arrive at school no later than 7:30 a.m. Arriving by this time allows students to enter the building and get to their first block class on time, which maximizes instructional time.

We are also excited to share an opportunity for your student to participate in the 50th Marine Corps Marathon Kids Run, a fun and inspiring event designed to encourage health, fitness, and community among our youth. As an added incentive, schools with the highest participation will be eligible to win the Healthy School Award and a $1,000 prize recognizing outstanding engagement and commitment to student health!  The registration link is included in the email portion of this alert.

In addition, please take a moment to review our Responsibility-Centered Discipline (RCD) school-wide foundations with your child. These principles help guide positive choices and support a solution-centered learning environment for everyone. A link is included in the email portion of this alert.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us here at the school.

One Community. One JM!

Have a great evening!
