On March 20th the Connections Resource Center hosted a family event where parents were able to have one on one conversations with teachers and administrators about their children with the help of interpreters. Parents also learned how to translate school documents and information on the website using Google Translate. Some of the topics discussed were school attendance, the principals' weekly message, school events, transportation changes, and students' grades, among others. Teachers, administrators, and parents shared a meal together and got to meet each other to continue building a stronger relationship among our multilingual families.

The students from the Latino Students Association from UMW wrote letters to the newcomers at JM. The letters were written in English, Spanish and Pashto. The UMW students shared their experiences as multilingual learners and their journey in education. They will continue writing to each other and hopefully they get to meet each other in person before the end of the school year. #LatinoStudents #UMW #newcomers
