February 3: February is Heart Health & The Kids Heart Challenge
Join our Kids Heart Challenge Team to Help Save Lives!
We just kicked off our Kids Heart Challenge! Get ready to change and save lives by registering. Join our team and download the free AHA Schools app. Students and staff who join the team will immediately earn their first “Thank You” gift, a colorful wristband! Please look in your scholars black Friday folder for more information. Thank you for supporting our team, our school, our community, and children like Finn!
February 3 – 7: Beginning on Monday, February 3 and throughout the week, carnations will be for sale. Carnations are $3.00 each or 2 for $5.00. There will be a table outside the cafeteria during breakfast. Please check the flyer in the black Friday folder for more information and contact information.
February 4: Chuck E. Cheese with LES PTA (Chuck E. Cheese Flyer/Spanish)
Join us for a night of fun at Chuck E. Cheese on Tuesday, February 4th, from 4:00-9:00 PM! Come celebrate with our favorite mouse and don’t forget to show off your Lion PRIDE by wearing your gear. We can’t wait to see you there!
February 5: Class Picture Day
February 6: Early Dismissal for Students - Lafayette Elementary will begin dismissal at 12:45 PM.
February 11: Fredericksburg City Schools Kindergarten Registration, from 5:00-7:00 PM

Upcoming Assessments:
February 3 – 28: WIDA Access Test
All English Language Learners (ELLs) in Virginia are required to take the WIDA ACCESS test annually to assess their English language proficiency. This assessment evaluates progress and proficiency in the four language domains: Listening, Reading, Speaking, and Writing.
If your student receives ELL services, they will participate in this important evaluation. Should you have any questions about the WIDA ACCESS test, please feel free to contact your student's ESOL teacher.
February 24 – March 6: Quarter 3 Benchmark Assessments
The testing period for quarter 3 benchmarks for grades 2nd-5th.
