In recognition of Suicide Prevention month, Fredericksburg City Public Schools will be sharing wellness resources to support our learning community. We want to this opportunity to highlight the significance of suicide and the importance of reducing the stigma of reaching out for help, knowing how to talk to others about suicidal thoughts, and understanding what resources are available for those in need.
If you or someone you know is in crisis, call/text 988 or visit 988lifeline.org for free and confidential help.

Did you know tigers can climb trees, swim, AND read?!? These ones can!! Mrs. Bane shares this photo from her focused classroom along with this message: "My English class practiced their reading skills and using text evidence during their cooperative reading time. They continue to work hard to build their reading stamina! 💪 #strongreaders #englishisLIT #proudwgteacher #weloveourkids" Go Mrs. Bane!! 🧡🧡

Last weekend, educators from all over the city gathered at New Site Shiloh Baptist Church for Education Encouragement Sunday! Look closely, you might be able to spot a few familiar W-G faces! Thank you, New Site Shiloh Baptist Church!

We love our community partners! Shout out to Teal MSP for the tech donations. New printers, monitors, and other office equipment landed at WGMS earlier this week. Woohooooo!

You can always COUNT on Mrs. Wright to make After-School Math Tutoring ten times more fun! 😉
It's the first week of Tiger Paw Academy and we want YOU to stay for after-school tutoring! English, Math, History, and Science tutoring are available Mon-Thurs. Stop by the front office or see Mr. Ventura's weekly email for a permission slip! 🧡🐯

Working hard or hardly working?! These new tigers are CERTAINLY working hard! This week, 6th grade Career Investigations students had a "group chat" to talk and write about their current understanding of the word "career." 🐯💡

📌LEARNING LANE CLOSURE UPDATE
Learning Lane is closing for emergency stormwater pipe repairs effective 5pm, August 16, 2024.
Lafayette Elementary and Walker-Grant Middle School parents, staff and school buses are encouraged to travel Lafayette Boulevard to Pender Street when arriving. Drivers should exit the schools by traveling on Pender Street to Rose Avenue to Hotchkiss Street at the traffic light.
The public is asked to avoid Lafayette Boulevard and travel on US Route 1 until October 2024 due to the anticipated detour-related traffic congestion. Drivers will experience heavier traffic on Lafayette Boulevard during peak school arrival and dismissal times of 7:00am-9:00am and 2:00pm-4:00pm. All drivers are encouraged to be alert in the areas of Learning Lane and Lafayette Boulevard, watch for detour signage and be extra cautious in the school zones for everyone’s safety.
To learn more about this emergency repair work, visit FredericksburgVA.gov or call 540-372-1010.
