The AJ Slye Memorial Scholarship is offered by the SlyeStrong#6 Foundation in memory of Andrew John “AJ” Slye, a North Stafford High School graduate whose life and fight against acute myeloid leukemia inspired the broader community. This scholarship supports graduating seniors who have been personally impacted by a cancer diagnosis and who plan to continue their education at a two- or four-year college or university.
Award Amount: Up to $2,000 (paid directly to the student's college or university)
Eligibility:
- Graduating senior from Stafford County Public Schools, Spotsylvania County Public Schools, or Fredericksburg City Public Schools
- Must have been immediately impacted by a cancer diagnosis (self, parent/guardian, or sibling)
- Must plan to attend an accredited 2- or 4-year college or university in Fall 2026
- Family members of the SlyeStrong#6 Foundation Board are not eligible

CTI Real Estate offers an annual scholarship of $500–$1,000 to students who demonstrate academic achievement and thoughtful reflection on their future goals. The Rita Berkey Memorial Scholarship is offered by P.E.O. Chapter BE of Fredericksburg to support women continuing their education after high school. Established in memory of Rita Berkey, a lifelong educator in the Fredericksburg area, this scholarship reflects her commitment to education and community service. Applicants should demonstrate involvement in service to their community, which is an important part of the selection process.
The scholarship awards $1,500 to a female student entering a full-time course of study at a college or vocational school. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents of the United States or Canada, and recipients will be required to complete an online Acceptance of Scholarship through the P.E.O. Foundation if selected.

The Xi Upsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. offers scholarships to support graduating female seniors pursuing higher education. This scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership, community service, and financial need as they prepare for college.

This scholarship honors the legacy of Ceili Anne Leahy, a member of the James Monroe High School Class of 2014. Ceili fought cancer with grace throughout her senior year at JM. After she graduated, she attended the University of Virginia. Ceili died in January 2016. Each year the Ceili Leahy Service Project awards a $2,500 scholarship to a JM senior who embodies Ceili's spirit of service to encourage and support service-minded students to pursue further education. All JM seniors with at least a 2.0 grade point average (GPA) are eligible to apply. Applicants may be interviewed at JM as part of the selection process. The scholarship is awarded at the Senior Honors Assembly in May 2026.

Scholarship Selection Criteria
This scholarship is awarded to a student who has made significant contributions through service to their local community and/or high school by demonstrating several of Ceili’s attributes. See below.
Additional consideration will be given to applicants who plan to pursue education and a career dedicated to public service, particularly in an area important to Ceili such as the environment, sustainability, human rights, global development, or realization of peace and justice.
More About Ceili
Ceili had a strong commitment to public service. She cared deeply about people, human rights, justice, the environment, and her Fredericksburg and JM communities. Ceili worked tirelessly to improve the human condition and the natural world. She was a great friend who had the ability to bring out the best in those around her, helping others to see the inherent goodness in themselves. She led through the passion she showed for her beliefs. She was creative, particularly in writing, and loved to laugh, travel, and learn about other cultures.
At JM, Ceili was president of the Amnesty International and French clubs. At UVA, she was active with Habitat for Humanity, the Community Garden, and the Outdoors Club. She planned to serve in the Peace Corps and then pursue a career in global sustainability and writing.
Scholarship Use Requirements and Payment
Funds may be used only for qualified educational expenses (tuition, books and fees, required supplies and equipment).
The awardee must study at an educational institution that:
- Has a primary function of presenting formal education;
- Maintains a regular faculty and curriculum; and
- Normally has a regularly enrolled body of students in attendance at the place where it conducts its educational activities
This could be a college, university, technical, vocational, or other school that is nationally accredited and authorized by law to offer its program. Scholarship funds are paid directly to the educational institution if the school agrees in writing to use the funds to defray the student’s expenses.

The Dynamic Affirmations Group (DAG) Scholarship supports graduating seniors who are preparing for life after high school and demonstrate leadership, commitment to their goals, and a desire to make a positive impact in their communities. Two $500 scholarships will be awarded to students pursuing post-secondary plans. Applicants are not required to attend a four-year college but must demonstrate clear aspirations for their future beyond high school.
Award Amount: Two scholarships of $500 each
Eligibility:
- Must reside in Caroline, Stafford, Spotsylvania, Hanover, or Henrico counties, or the cities of Fredericksburg or Richmond
- High school senior with a minimum 2.0 GPA (4.0 scale)
- Submit two letters of recommendation (high school counselor, educator, or community organization leader)
- Submit unofficial high school transcript
- Submit a 250–500 word essay describing a need in your community and how you plan to help meet that need after graduation

The Fit By Ky Training and Fitness Athletic Scholarship is designed to support high school seniors committed to continuing their athletic careers at the collegiate level. Four $500 scholarships will be awarded to two male athletes and two female athletes.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a high school senior
- Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
- Committed to a 2-year or 4-year college or university to participate in a sports program
Application Instructions
Applicants will need to submit a two-page, double-spaced essay in MLA format discussing their journey as an athlete, the uniqueness of their experience, and their motivation to continue their athletic career in college. Applicants will also need to submit their current high school transcripts and proof of commitment to a college sports program.

Jermon Bushrod’s Visualize & Rize Foundation is offering two $500 scholarships to James Monroe High School senior athletes who plan to continue their education after graduation. The scholarship supports students who have participated in athletics during high school and are pursuing trade school, vocational training, or college.

The Lauren A. Davies Memorial Scholarship, offered by the Fredericksburg Area Sickle Cell Association (FASCA), supports graduating seniors who have overcome significant physical or health-related challenges while pursuing their education. The scholarship honors Lauren A. Davies, who lived with sickle cell anemia and demonstrated extraordinary courage, perseverance, and commitment to education and community despite the complications of her illness.
Eligibility:
- Graduating high school senior planning to pursue education at a college, business school, nursing program, technical program, or similar institution
- Attend a high school in the City of Fredericksburg or the counties of Caroline, King George, Orange, Spotsylvania, Stafford, or Westmoreland
- Student with a physical disability, chronic illness, or other significant health impairment (including conditions such as epilepsy, diabetes, or similar medical challenges)
- Demonstrate strong character through recommendations

The Betty J. Hunter Bazemore Scholarship supports students pursuing higher education at a technical school, junior college, or four-year college/university. The Gospel Worship Experience Scholarship Program (GWESP) awards scholarships to graduating seniors through an annual essay competition. During its most recent program year, GWESP awarded 18 scholarships, including a top award of $18,500. The first-place recipient presents their essay at the award ceremony and receives a plaque in addition to the scholarship.
Essay Topic (2026): Purpose, Belonging, and the First-Year Pivot — Students must write an essay explaining how they will build purpose and belonging during their first year of college and outline the specific habits, campus resources, and support systems they will use to stay on track academically, socially, and financially when plans change.
